The number of street children is increasing in Juba due to the ongoing
conflict, says executive director for Christian Agency for
Development.
Peter Maliir calls on national authorities to quickly address the
matter before it goes out of hand.
With the deteriorating economic situation in South Sudan, many
families are unable to provide food for their children forcing the
kids to street to beg for survival, he points out.
Maliir says if nothing is done now, these children will to grow
lawlessly and would be threat of insecurity in the country.
He thinks the ongoing conflict has not only created an economic gap in
the country, but much effect could be seen on social fabric.
The director suggests that the only way is to stop the ongoing war in
the country.
Director-General of the Ministry of Information, Youth and Sports in
Jubek State, Ugo Aurelio Sichim praises the organizations for their
support to the street children.
He says such activities are clear message to the government that they
have to do something.
The officials spoke when Christian Agency for Development was
distributing clothes, medical dressing materials and some snacks to
125 street children in Juba on Thursday.
