Fresh inter-communal clashes erupt between Apuk South and Kuac South Counties

At least two children were killed and two others injured after gunmen
launched an attack on Matiel Village of Apuk South County in Gogrial
State on Monday, while five people including three children were
killed in an attack on Kuac South County of neighbouring Tonj State.

Apuk South Commissioner Santino Yel told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that
a 3-year-old child was killed and two others were wounded after
attacks on Matiel on Monday.

Commissioner Yel accused local youth from Kuac South County of Tonj
state and others from Marial Bai of Wau State of carrying out the
attacks on his area.

Yel confirmed that the clashes resumed on Tuesday morning.

For his part, Kuac South Commissioner said at least five civilians
including three children were killed after an armed group attacked
Alek village and other villages in the county. He accused local youth
from neighbouring Apuk South of Gogrial State carrying out the attack.
