Former Commissioner Says His Sacking Politically Motivated
The former Duk County Commissioner, Jacob Akech Deng has accused
individuals in Jonglei State government of trying to block peace in
the State calling them the enemies of peace in the country.

DUK, 26th June 2015 [Gurtong] -Jonglei State Caretaker Governor
appointed former Duk County Commissioner, Jacob Akech Deng and
relieved him barely five months later allegedly for mismanagement of
office.

He was replaced by Malual Wuor as the new Commissioner of Duk County
in Jonglei State.

However, Jacob Akech says his sacking was politically motivated.

“It was the Governor with those who don’t want peace in Jonglei State.
They convinced Governor John Kong to relieve me and am sure I did
nothing but standing with peace among ethnic tribes of Jonglei” he
said.

“It is upon the government to appoint and relieve someone. But what I
want to say is that, that is not the issue but what have I done. When
I was appointed as a Commissioner, I brought peace to Duk County and
its neighbors like Greater Lou, Pangak and Greater Bor and I saw my
work on the level of national policy not on local level” Akec added.

“If I did wrong my name should have not appeared to him two times
after he ( the Governor) asked Duk members to send names of the new
Commissioner of Duk after I was sacked” adding that “we cannot be the
leaders of dead people and that was why I stand with peace and I bring
different back grounds together.”

However, he congratulated his successor and wished him well.

“I believed Hon Malual Wuor was the right person in the right position
and I will support him as a member of the community in Duk.”
