MARIDI (19 Sep.)

Africano Monday, governor of the proposed Maridi State said they plan to establish a common market between his state and two neighbouring states of Amadi and Western Lakes.

Maridi State is one of 28 successor states created by Salva Kiir by decree, which the opposition groups say are unconstitutional.

In a press statement after meetings with the visiting deputy governor of Amadi State, Governor Africano said they discussed the possibility of establishing a joint market between the three states.

He pointed out that the proposed joint market will facilitate trader between the people of the three states.

Meanwhile, several traders in Maridi complained about soaring prices of essential commodities due to poor roads and insecurity in the area. A woman selling goods at the market confirmed rising prices of commodities, besides the scarcity of some goods.
