SPLA asked to stop ‘mingling’ with civilians at gas stations

All organized forces have been directed to refill their vehicles from
designated stations, according to Brigadier-General Lul Ruai, the SPLA
Spokesperson.

This comes after some members of the public complained about
harassment and intimidation by men in military uniform at gas stations
in Juba.

In Juba, the Nilepet station at Munuki will be used by the army alone.

“It’s not a total ban, it’s meant to stop inconveniencing other
users….so that we stop mingling with civilians,” Brig. Ruai told Eye
Radio.

Last month, President Salva Kiir issued an order forming a committee
tasked with organizing proper distribution of fuel to filling
stations.

Members of the public have been complaining about scarcity of fuel,
which they say, hinders daily activities.

In Juba, only few gas stations have fuel. On the streets, a one and
half liter bottle of fuel now costs 400 pounds.
