Introducing Peacewatch: Yemen
Peace Direct has launched a new strand of its work researching and engaging with local peacebuilders.
A vast amount of research and analysis is produced on conflict issues around the world. But less is written on the efforts of those trying to stop war, even as it rages around them. So our new reports, compiled by our network of Local Peacebuilding Experts, will provide coverage of efforts taking place on the ground, where others cannot reach.
The first in this original series of reports focuses on Yemen.

We are more aware than ever that local action in our communities – the work of local peacebuilding that Peace Direct supports in other places around the world – is now our responsibility and our hope.

Marching for equality, rights and hope

The coming months ahead are going to test many of us who believe in building bridges rather than walls. Our message, that violence can be prevented and peace can be sustained if we support local efforts, is more urgent than ever before.

Building communities for peace in Sudan
In South Kordofan, Sudan, is increasing economic pressures and escalating social tensions in the Habila community. But a violent response is not inevitable, as the Badya Centre for Integrated Development, a local peacebuilding organisation from South Kordofan, is well aware.
