Research criticizes police over irresponsibility

Sudd Institute research criticized police failure to keep order and rampant involvement in corruption.
Jok Madut Jok told the public in a lecture on Saturday that police
were not responding to citizens’ cries at night and that traffic police
collect money from drivers without receipts.
He urged police to address insecurity and show a sense of responsibility and accountability.
South Sudan Law Society chairperson Wani Matthias cited a case of
malpractice in the CID police who arrested an innocent Ugandan trader
and supported a criminal customer who forged vehicle engine.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Lieutenant General Andrew Kuol
Nyuon admitted that police name was tarnished and that Sudd Institute
research would help the public.
He said the police leadership with the public support would eliminate wrong elements in the National Police Service.
