June 13, 2015 (KHARTOUM) - The opposition “Sudan Call” forces has
launched Saturday the “Leave to Stop the War” campaign and called for
immediate international intervention to stop aerial bombing on
civilians and end the war in South Kordofan, Blue Nile and Darfur.
“Sudan Call” forces include the rebel umbrella Sudan Revolutionary
Front (SRF), National Umma Party (NUP) and the opposition alliance of
the National Consensus Forces (NCF).
They demanded in a press conference on Saturday national, regional and
international parties to swiftly provide humanitarian assistance to
end the suffering caused by the civil war.
The secretary general of the NUP, Sara Nugd Allah, said their priority
is to end the war and achieve just and permanent peace as, noting they
would work with all national forces to achieve peaceful coexistence
among entire components of the Sudanese society.
According to a statement issued on Saturday, the campaign aims to
reveal atrocities committed by the regime in various Sudanese regions,
adding it also seeks to expand the popular base which calls for ending
the war as an entry point to resolve Sudan’s problems and achieve
peace and democratic transformation.
The statement added the campaign would include holding of lectures and
public activities in various Sudanese cities and with the
participation of various sectors including civil society, religious
leaders and Sofi orders besides the Internally Displaced Persons
(IDPs).
It urged all civil and political forces to support the campaign and
call for stopping government’s targeting of civilians.
It should be recalled that the “Sudan Call” forces also launched the
“Leave/Get out” campaign Arabic Arhal to boycott the general elections
held last April.
The Sudanese army and its allied militias have been fighting Sudan
People’s Liberation Movement/North (SPLM-N) rebels in Blue Nile and
South Kordofan since 2011 and a group of armed movements in Darfur
since 2003.
