Authorities in Boma state said they are searching for children
allegedly abducted and cattle stolen from Bor North County in
neighboring Jonglei state.
This comes after the governor of Jonglei state Philip Aguer called on
Boma authorities return all stolen cattle and abducted children.
The newly appointed minister of local government in Boma, Simon
Logocho Gain, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that his government has not
yet identified the local youth who allegedly abducted children and
stole cattle from Jonglei state.
The official pointed out that his government will go to various
villages to search for the abductors and bring them to book. However,
the official did not give a definite timeframe.
“We want to know whether what is being said by the Jonglei government
is true or not and then know who exactly carried out the attack,” he
said.
Deadly cattle raids are common between the Murle and Dinka Bor in
greator Jonglei often including abductions of children and women as
wives or to care for stolen cattle.
