IRC trains police on human rights in Aweil

AWEIL (15 Sep.)

The international Rescue Committee, IRC, a US supported international organisation involved in humanitarian activities in South Sudan has in collaboration with local authorities in Aweil town, capital of the new state, conducted a human right training for up to 25 police officers in the state.

The training is part of the capacity building support it provides to the local authorities on human rights and general rules of the police. The four days workshop was opened by the Aweil state Governor, Ronald Ruai Deng on Tuesday and is expected to be concluded after four days.

Acting police commissioner, Major General Mareng Deng, said during the training would be an opportunity for the officers to learn a lot of things from the workshop. He urged the police to respect dignity of state citizens and calls for improvement in police system in the state.
