requires both principals to convene again to expedite the peace
process.
“There are critical issues that require another summit between the
rival leaders. We view this phase of round as important because its
going to be about contentious issues of governance and power sharing.
the two principals hold the edge in making sure that a working formula
is found so that the peace comes speedy enough” – Seyoum said.
Negotiators of the two parties convened yesterday after more than 15
days of recess. IGAD mediators believed that this phase of sitting
provide an opportunity for peace. While addressing both parties
yesterday, mediators urged both warring parties to give peace a chance
and restore hope to the vulnerable South Sudanese people.

IGAD, H.E. the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, who plans to convene a
Mini-Summit imminently, comprising himself, the Rapporteur of IGAD
President Kenyatta and the two Principals, to complete the Summit
negotiations where they were adjourned. The date of the Summit will be
communicated to you shortly. Until the Summit convenes, the
negotiating teams must continue with the other outstanding thematic
issues, as previously agreed at the conclusion of our last session of
talks in November.” - Seyoum said in a press statement.
