17 Starve To Death In Besselia County
The Commissioner of Besselia County in Wau State, Francis Ibrahim has
said that at least 17 people have so far died due to starvation.

WAU, 04 August 2017- [Gurtong] – He said that more people are at risk
of starvation due to lack of food in the area. He also said that there
has been no support from any organisation to assist the people.
“The humanitarian situation is worsening and our people are starving
to death, the violence which forced our people out from Wau town is
deteriorating their lives and will continue if no emergency relief is
rendered to them,” said Francis Ibrahim.
He further said that the people lack medical services in the area.
“Our people lack medicines and clean drinking water. There is an
urgent need from the humanitarian agencies to scale up their efforts
to help, no fear of insecurity, the area is safe for humanitarian aid
workers and any willing Samaritan can do their activities towards
rescuing the needy population there,” he said.
“As such, we are calling on the humanitarian aid workers to intervene
with what is necessary and rescue our population in Bessilia County,”
said the Commissioner.
