This is an example of a post on our Tumblr blog.

There are a lot of "information sets" and "articles" that we could be generating from this group's discussion and putting up in a more permanent public way. "The State of the Peninsula - by Adina Levin" or "Common Housing and Density Objections - a community FAQ" edited by Mike Schiraldi, etc.

These can be updated, modified and gussied up with images and inline videos, unlike the discussion topics here.

The Tumblr blog (which was the original old skool SFBARF site) could be a way to do that. If you have or make an account on Tumblr, you can be added in as a blogger in the group.

Eventually, this could all go on a subdomain of our main page sfbarf.org/blog (or we could make a wordpress or some other style blog there).

This way we don't have to wait to create each page. Trusted members can just make them edit them and promote them as needed.

Thoughts?

no it wasn't. I made an html site first, before a blog.

You are welcome to cross-post on the housing section of the SF Moderates blog (where Sonja got her start as a guest writer!) Here is the link to see our housing mission statement and blog
http://www.sfmoderates.org/category/homeownership/
We also have six other issue areas that cover schools, tech, transportation, parks, economic development and quality of life.
We have several thousand members who would probably be a good audience for SFBARF ideas.

I'm personally open to information being displayed wherever it can reach people.  I'm already mining this group and other sources for information to put on the site.  Point in case if stuff goes up on that blog, then I'll mine there too : )  My aim is to create a really usable template that people can plug text into (which may describe dates, locations, etc) and get back html that can go right on the site.  That generated block of html will be searchable, exportable, and migratable.

Wondering if you need to mine the blog, or could we just put up the RSS feed of the posts in the sidebar.

I'm giving it some love today, let's touch base after that.

so for instance...

sfbarf.tumblr.com/tagged/video/rss gives the posts tagged with 'video'. So when I take sfbarf.tumblr.com/tagged/video/rss I get the video RSS feed. That feed could then be formatted to the sidebar to present the freshest video content

Mining every available resource is feasible and part of the skill set I offer to the cause.  Yes, an rss feed can go into the nav.  Hit me up when feed is in ship shape.

So it turns out there are RSS feeds for this discussion group activity.

Those could provide links/ content for the main site as well. As much as the front page can draw people into the discussion here, the better.

Bookmarked.  Anyone who wants can subscribe to these now.  They don't need to be informed via the website.  I will ad a link to the group feeds when bandwidth permits.

Sorry, old school enough to be well over a years worth of fantastic posts that shows how much you guys did during that time :)

I guess what I meant is, it's been awesome in the past, but kind of neglected in our presence and interlinking efforts these days.

Long Live the BARF BLOG!!!
