Hi Mike,
The version I already have is from a cassette tape made by “Traditional Caller Productions”, TC123, with caller Bob Dalsemer and band members Peter Barnes, Steve Hickman, Jack O'Connor, Bill Tomczak. Bob Dalsemer is a traditional contra and square dance caller who was calling in the Baltimore/Maryland area when I was dancing traditional squares and contras there. The band members are extremely talented. I digitized the cassette tape, but, am out of town right now, so I can’t listen to it so see if it is a good enough quality to use.
I’m rather certain the version on
DoSaDo.com is the same one. I like the instrumentation of Bob Dalsemer's version better than the Lloyd Shaw version, I’m sure, because it’s how it was played when I danced to it, many a time. You can buy the Bob Dalsemer version off of
DoSaDo.com. Bob produced two book’s with music, both instrumental and called: “smoke on the water” and “When the work’s all done”.
Apparently
DoSaDo.com has a traditional category, and all of Bob Dalsemer’s stuff from these 2 collections is there.
