Sad News to pass on

Hello all,

Sadly, our friend, fellow squash player, Porsche lover and guy who was always there with a joke and a laugh, Roy Goldfarb, has passed away.

We just found out this morning and don't have many details other than this obituary notice: Roy Goldfarb Obituary (2021) - Courier Post (legacy.com)

Those of us who knew Roy at Penn and Drexel always remarked at how well and gracefully he bounced back from hip surgery, heart surgery, etc.  In fact after his first hip replacement Roy's game climbed back to and above the level we had known he could play; clearly his declining hip had hindered his game for a long time before we met him; the new hip gave him the opportunity to recover some of his old game.

Last saw Roy, socially distanced of course, at another sad time in July.  This pandemic has created a distance between all of us that for some we will never be given the chance to bridge.

While we don't remember, it has been a while, we like to think our last points against Roy were won by him in classic Roy drop shots delivered from the T.

Roy's tenacity, humor, intellect and friendship will be missed.

Very sorry to hear about Roy. Even from my occasional games and chats with him, I have plenty of fun memories.

Thanks for sharing that sad news. Roy was a real gentleman and he'll be missed. I remember is determination to get back playing after his hip surgery - talk about tenacity. RIP

I was so sad to read this news, but thanks for sharing Rick and Rich.

Roy was one of many of you who made me feel so welcome in your Penn squash community.

He was a gentleman (on and off the court) with such a passion for squash.  I will definitely miss him.
