PC Softball Schedule Update!

Hi, team!

We've rescheduled our game against Catholic for Monday, July 15 at 7:15 on East Potomac Field #9.  We'll be cutting it close with daylight, so it's important we start on time. Remember parking and driving will be a nightmare, so public transit/bicycle/ferry/scooter is recommended. 

Calendar invites for July games are open for RSVPs. Please get those in ASAP, but no later than 48 hours before game day. 

We're still working on the reschedule with UW and will update y'all as soon as we know. 

We've also added the calendar invites for the CAN Tournament (see separate email thread for all the details) for both weekends. Please RSVP to those as soon as you know whether you're coming. We're going to start getting ready for tournament. If you have any questions about it, please let us know. 

Have a restful few weeks, Friars!  (Get a few reps in if you can), and we'll see you on the 10th against Rutgers!

We've rescheduled UW.  Not a lot of options, so we're on 11 July at 6:15. Location TBD. 

Yes, that means we have Rutgers on the 10th, UW on the 11th, and NC on the 12th. Such closeness will help us get ready for Tournament!  Stay tuned for location. We'll update the calendar invite as soon as we get it. In the meantime, get those RSVPs in.

10 July 6:15 start v. Rutgers at Guy Mason Recreation Center

11 July 6:15 start v. UW at Macomb Recreation Center

12 July 6:30 start v. UNC at Filed #6

I hope this is the last update. Rutgers has requested a 6:30 start instead of the usual 6:15 given the location in NW.  Sure. I've updated the calendar to reflect this. I'll be frolicking in the mountains that day, so please keep Paddy apprised of any changes to RSVPs. 

While I have you, a few reminders: 

• If you would like to help with the CAN Tournament anything big or small, please let me know! (Volunteering often means comp'd Tournament fees and better playing times for us, so think about it!) 
• Keep around any gently used sports equipment for the kids' donation drive at Tournament!
• RSVP to the July invites if you have not yet and the Tournament invites! 

Also, CAN is doing a SuperDraft round-robin for fun on 27 July. All are welcome to participate!  Details below.

Super Draft will be Saturday, July 27th and all players are welcome to join if interested! The idea of a super draft for those not familiar is everyone gets "drafted" to a team so you'll be playing with players you likely haven't played with or against before.  And you may even play against some teammates.  It's a great way to just have fun playing softball and socialize with other players on other teams.

Hoping to organize this as a fun gathering for the league in advance of the official tournament.  Since this is the first time doing this in CAN we aren't sure what to expect (hoping to get enough for at least 4 teams)

The rules for the tournament will be the same as the CAN rules and we will have a draft the week leading up so that people will know what teams they will be on and the schedule in advance. 

To help subsidize the cost of field permits and equipment we are asking that people pitch in $15 to register. Once we have a better idea on numbers we will reach out to anyone registered with further details as far as the number of teams and schedule. 

Please use THIS LINK to register by July 21 and send $15 via Venmo to @Sara-Mae (last 4 digits of phone 4181).  If you do not have Venmo please reach out to Sara directly to make other arrangements

The one caveat is that the 27th is the dedicated rain date in case the 7/13 or 7/20 games are unable to play. In that case we would look to move this event to Sunday, 7/28.  Anyone unable to join on the 28th will be refunded their money. 

We will also need some equipment from a couple teams so we can set up fields foe the day.

Friendly PSA.  The NATO Summit is this week at the convention center. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get to the fields Weds, Thurs, and Fri. Lots of road closures and traffic will be a nightmare.

I swear this stuff can never be straightforward.  LSU cancelled on Catholic, so now we can start as early as 6:15. We have +1 people if we can start at 6:15, so I am in favor of bumping up the game so we can have more people and finish the game before daylight. 

I WILL NOT MOVE THE TIME UNLESS I HEAR FROM ALL "Yes" RSVPs that the earlier start time works for you. 

Please let me know ASAP if you can make it by 6:15. 

The game is at 7:15 unless you hear from me otherwise. 

Sorry for the confusion--I wouldn't have given us the option if I didn't think it would be an improvement.

I am sad to report that there will be no reschedule with UW, as much as we tried. There's no common availability to field two teams.

Wish we had been able to celebrate the end of an amazing regular season together!

But here we are, so...ON TO TOURNAMENT!!!!!!
