Join us TOMORROW, July 10, at 5:30 for a group walk and "Sidewalk Survey"
The Active Transportation Committee of Friends of Woodfords Corner is focused on improving the safety, accessibility and comfort level of pedestrians, bicyclists and Metro users in and around Woodfords Corner. We envision a Woodfords Corner where all residents, employees, and visitors enjoy walking to and around the Corner to shop, visit and travel.
To achieve that vision, we need to identify the obstacles to it and educate our residents, business owners, and City of Portland staff on how we can change traffic flow and transform Woodfords Corner. To that end, Friends of Woodfords Corner will be holding a “Sidewalk Survey: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” on Wednesday, July 10, from 5:30–7 pm. If you’re interested in making Woodfords Corner more walkable and bikeable, please join us.
The Sidewalk Survey will include an interactive group walk through a mile of streets in the Woodfords Corner area that includes streets that are good for pedestrians, bad for pedestrians and truly ugly for pedestrians. We will break out into groups of 7 or 8 people and periodically stop to evaluate sidewalks, crosswalks, intersections and other parts of our streets. Participants will be asked to rate their level of comfort at various stops and identify how to make the roads safer for pedestrians. We hope you’ll join us!

How: Through a 1-mile walk of our streets, participants can experience and evaluate conditions for pedestrians and identify ways to make our streets safer and more inviting.
Why: This is a first step in developing conceptual plans to make Woodfords Corner less of a traffic jam and more of a walkable and inviting place for all of us.
