FYI

Unitil Work on Tukey’s Bridge Now Complete
Crews have restored the work area, and the trail has been reopened to the public. There are no planned trail closures for the remainder of 2025. During work this week to retire a section of natural gas pipeline near Tukey’s Bridge, Unitil crews determined that the pipeline is located much deeper underground than anticipated. This changes the scope of the project, and the work cannot be completed under the current permit. Unitil is working closely with the City and MaineDOT to determine next steps, which will take place in the spring of 2026.

Zack, are you referring to my comment or Stevens? I'm saying "wow" becauss it's unexpected, and I for one am really glad the trail is back open since I heavily rely on it!

Oh wow, I thought they just finished early.  Seems like round 2 will be our chance to get highway access for bikes and peds.

Hopefully there will be a chance to push for them to put it back wider than they found it?

Very seriously; if folks must endure a closure of the bridge walk & bikeway, the portions of the trail which could be widened should be during that time, esp. if the trail has to be dug up extensively.

Denise, et al;
Sorry, my comments were an attempt at humor and not directed at you. I was just frustrated that after all that work, Unitil had not properly defined the scope (which happens) so this whole endeavor was for naught (unitil they revisit it).

I propose that in the spring, when the trail is closed again, that our community organize a walking and biking march across Tukey's bridge in the right hand travel lane from inner Washington to outer Washington. The pretense being that this was once a public right of way from which people  walking and biking denied access with the highway-fication of Tukey's bridge. The current path way has not been an equivalent restoration of this access.
