One more reminder! Portland Downtown Library, 4-6pm, in the basement auditorium. I'll be there around 4:30/5pm. It's open house style, come anytime.

I believe that tonight's meeting will be mostly dedicated to getting public input on the city's goals. For me, these should ultimately be SMART goals (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time-bound), and should focus on things like safety for all users, affordability for all users, and improving travel time, mobility, reliability, and choices for non-drivers.

I participated in an advisory committee meeting yesterday for this project. So far, the consultants and staff are talking about the right things. Let's encourage them to keep going in the right direction!

I absolutely detest these open house meeting formats.  I want a presentation and open opportunity to provide feedback and to hear from others.

I will be attending this afternoon and let my views on this and the plan.

I so agree with Steven on this point. Nobody owns a process like this. There is no leadership. These are opportunities for someone to frame the issues in a larger context, present the issues and trade offs, tell why it’s important, and place this work in the larger story of our city.-and answer questions publicly.  Instead we have a faceless process that shields elected and staff from accountability.

+2
Basically staff and consultants were there to hand out dots and sticky notes, and to say “hmm-hmm” to any comments.
I mentioned to several people the deficiencies of this open house format and their answer was some variation of “we have nothing to present, we are just gathering information” which if you take it on face value means that they are unqualified to embark on this project.

I was working on a project on Thursday afternoon and lost track of the time.  Realized I missed the event about 5:30 pm.
