Hi O'C Fam!

On September 28th, my family and I will be doing the Breakthrough T1D walk.  I have a niece and a nephew who were diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at very young ages (McKenna at 7 years old in 2017 and Landon at 4 years old in 2020).  A T1D diagnosis is not a death sentence, but it is a life sentence.  Navigating the complications of T1D while also trying to live a normal childhood isn't easy.  Sneaking that extra cookie or cupcake at a birthday party can have more repercussions than just a stomach ache or an empty threat from your mom that you can't have a treat the next day.  While the technology and treatments have gotten better, there still is no cure for T1D.  The stress it puts on the parents is hard to imagine as well - phone alarms at all hours, worrying about meds, etc.  We are so proud of the strength and resilience that our T1D Warriors show every day!

If you're able to donate any amount to our team, it would be greatly appreciated.  Please see the link below.  Also feel free to join us!

More information about the organization:

What is type 1 diabetes (T1D):

T1D is a chronic autoimmune condition in which the pancreas stops producing insulin, an essential hormone that helps the body turn food into energy. It places a profound human, emotional, and financial burden on those who live with it and their families.

Right now, there is no cure. That's where we come in.

Breakthrough T1D helps make life with T1D better
Thanks to all the research they fund, we now have better insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors (CGMs), and automated insulin delivery systems—really cool technology that makes T1D easier for me to manage.
