Cruise and Campout

Hey all, the camp sites are all taken for our scheduled campout at Kahana Bay on June 27-28.

Does anyone have a problem camping out there on July 4th weekend? This date is still open!

The only downer for that weekend that I know is that if there is any crazy fireworks on the beach a trampoline, sails ..... could get damaged.

What do you all think?

Make it quick so we can reserve the two sites we need.

We will be having our annual Bacci Ball Tournament and Charlie is requesting a fishing tournament to see who can bring in the largest catch!

Dittos, it was a wonderful weekend. My sincere gratitude to all who made this specular club event happen and all who participated.

Ahoy sailors,

Just got off the phone with Capt. Howie, who asked me to blast this out...

Although it’s kind of short notice, maybe nobody has any plans anyway? ha ha!!

The landing is just past Hukilau Beach close to the Cackle Fresh egg store if you Google map it.

Howie says there’s great camping up in the trees.

If you’re prepared to bring your gear onboard, shopping at Foodland in Laie is available Saturday, but closed Sunday, because “Laie”.

If someone wants to drive, we can sherpa gear from Hukilau to the campsite, then park in the neighborhood.

Mia and I are ready, weather permitting.

Howie still needs crew.

Hi Howie, should be good tomorrow or the weekend, DeathWish will sail the bay and do a 50 minute coco island run, it is about all us old folk can do these days, actually i had my first Afib/heart attack on the way back from a kahana bay camp out, i collapsed at the club after pushing the boat up the beach, i ended up in Queens for 5 days in the ICU

after breaking my femur, i decided to see my cardiologist on the same floor of my surgeon, i was on crutches describing my fall, rescue and the last few days in recovery, my cardiologist told me all my classmates were dead (iolani 62) (he is iolani 60, and i should "just keep doing what you are doing" :) what a guy, i have been following his medical advise since.

have fun, you only go around once and it does not get easier with time

Hi Chris,  doctors orders :)

lots of hiking where I broke my femur exactly one year ago, biking and surfing thrown in, waves have been good, no surf schools only locals in the water, like before only more people, i am on a long board now, they have to move

K bay is some of the best sailing in the world and best of all, on some days there is nobody else on the water, how about that in America of all places…good old DeathWish, she just keeps on going, of course I have the best crew too

You and Kate have set the best example of sailing, sailing, and more sailing. I’ve been a member of our club for nearly 20 years. Nobody comes even close to you and Kate. Your example and videos have certainly inspired me, and I'm sure many others. Please don’t let the weeds start growing around your vessel.

Thanks Howie, sometimes people take me wrong, but it is all in fun and sailing is something we all can do even as time goes on

we will never grow weeds under DeathWish thanks to Bobby and his weed wacker, kate will repair sails, sand hulls and put up with me, but cutting down weeds is not her job :)

anyway thanks to those folks who help us up the beach these days, kate's recent shoulder surgery, hip replacement and broken collar bone have dimished her 110lb ability to push (she will not admit it) and i get gassed easily now days, pushing the boat up the beach is the hardest thing we do

we plan on sailing today, winds look promising and weather permitting

put down the twinkies and get off the couch, go sailing
