Hi All,

I am trying to use therm and everytime I open any file it asks me the file location for the gas libary and the material library, and then need to put in the simulation folder - and these folder locations wont save for the next time I open therm.

I try a completely fresh uninstall/reinstall and it works first time and then after I open one file the problem comes back.

Any ideas?

It seems to be that I can open therm, sort the errors, close it and then re-open a therm (all with blank files) and everything is okay. Its when I try and open pre-existing file it seems to revert to the libraries disconnecting.

What version of THERM are you running, and what is the file location that you are specifying?

Hi Robin,

I am using the latest therm (7.8.80) and the file locations I need to specify are the following:

Upon Opening Therm:
Gas Library:  "C:\Users\Public\LBNL\THERM7.8\lib\gas.lib"
Material Library: "C:\Users\Public\LBNL\THERM7.8\lib\material.lib"

To be able to run a simulation: "C:\Program Files (x86)\lbnl\THERM7.8\Sim"

Thanks,

Will

The path settings for those libraries are stored in the therm7.8.ini file, which can be found here
C:\Users\Public\LBNL\Settings

The INI file is a text file, and here is what those paths look like in my INI file

You should look in your INI file and see if those paths are set.

If they are, it seems that for some reason, THERM isn't able to access / edit that INI file?

Hi Robin,

That seems to have worked - thank you!

However, im still getting the simulation error and have to manually reset the simulation path "C:\Program Files (x86)\lbnl\THERM7.8\Sim" each time - which is matching to INI file, any ideas?

Thanks again,

Will

My sim path is to the local THERM folder, which I think is better. Having the sim path be on Program Files x86 means you need permission to write files there, which might not always be the case.

Here is what is looks like in my therm7.8.ini

SimPath=C:\Users\Public\LBNL\THERM7.8\Sim

Try setting you INI file to that path and see what happens.

Hi Robin,

I have set my Sim path to the above but each time I open Therm the simulation directory goes C:\Program Files?

Do you run THERM as Administrator? Not sure that would make a difference but it might be worth a try.
