Greetings everyone!

I would like to ask how to model a dummy transom in THERM. Please see below screenshot for a sample.

How does one go about modeling the glass lites in THERM? I've tried putting the two glass lites edge to edge and the program is giving me "Disjoint parts in CONRAD".

Any possible solution?

I don't think I quite understand the glass that you are talking about.

Did you make a glazing system in WINDOW and import it into THERM?

Can you email me the file? (RDMit...@lbl.gov)

I recently tried to do an analysis on a similar situation, and was unable to get the THERM (v7.6) file to run due to the same error - "disjoint parts in CONRAD".  I've attached my file here.  The glass was imported from WINDOW.

I was not trying to get any sort of thermal rating on the system, but was rather doing an analysis of the temperatures inside the system using different backpans as part of preliminary design work.  My work around was to import a much taller glazing unit with a spacer at the bottom - far away from the horizontal kiss mullion area.  Once I did that the file simulated.  I really don't think it's the CORRECT way to do it, but I needed some quick and dirty answers at the time.  I'd love to hear other's experience on running simulations on these types of systems.

Hi Crystal,

This is the workaround that I did as well. I created a 1mm tall spacer that was far away enough for it to not affect the simulation too much. As you said, I'm not entirely sure if this is the correct approach, but it seems to be an adequate enough of a solution to the problem.

Hi Robin,

I seem to have found a workaround (similar to Crystal's reply below), but I'm not entirely sure if it's the correct approach. I've attached the file to this reply. I inserted a 1mm tall spacer at the very end of the glazing unit.

Crystal

I am having our programmers look into this issue, since several users seem to be having a similar problem. I have the file that gets the error.

Could you email me the file that you finally got to work? you can send it directly to me at RDMit...@lbl.gov, or post it to this list, whichever is easier.

Thanks
