Hello

I am currently running THERM 7.8.80 and can't seem to get the report function to generate anything. I've recently upgraded my laptop and I'm running Windows 11 Pro -might it be related to this? I was running an earlier version of therm (and windows) on my previous laptop and it worked without any problems.
Or could it be something else I'm missing?!

Many thanks,

Catherine

Here is a Knowledge Base article with some information about printing reports.

Let me know if that doesn't fix the problem.

What exactly does it do when you try to run the report? I believe I've seen this function fail when the glazing system name is too long. In that case, Therm crashes entirely. It could be something like that.

Thank you for your responses. I've downloaded and registered the  RICHTX32.OCX file however this hasn't worked and has affected how Therm is running-  When I open the program it is saying my materials and boundary libraries have a bad format and when I try to open a file, it crashes.

Previously when I went to run the report, nothing at all happened, it didn't crash or anything.

Many thanks,

Catherine

Hmm. That's not good.

I guess try deleting the RICHTX32.OCX file and see if that returns THERM to it's previous state.

I haven't heard of that issue before.

Hi Robin
I've now got it sorted - running on version 7.4.4 (with the RICTX32.OCX file reinstalled and registered). I uninstalled everything and managed to get hold of the setup instructions from the course I did a few years ago. I'm not sure if it was related to the therm version or an error of mine somewhere along the way!
Thank you very much for your help!

OK for what it's worth, I've finally come out of the rabbit hole to make the report function work in Windows 11 - this may help others struggling with this:

- Download the RICTX32.OCX - see link at bottom of this page: https://windows.lbl.gov/report-does-not-print

- Move the file from your Downloads folder into:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder (not the System32 folder because computer is 64 bit and it comes up with an error if you try)

- Then register it so the computer knows where it is - that means using the Command Prompt - go to bottom left search bar of Windows Explorer and type 'cmd' and then you can see the Command Prompt programme, but don't use the one on the left, rather click 'Run as administrator' on the right hand side and approve he pop-up box to run as administrator

- That brings up a black box which has a directory stated - for example it might be:
C:\Windows\System32>

- But you need to change the directory to get to the one you put that .ocx file into (i.e. SysWOW64) so to do this you have to change directory by then typing cd C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and then press enter (full entry on that line would be C:\Windows\System32>cd C:\Windows\SysWOW64). Note there must be a space between cd and the directory you want...

- This should then bring the following up: C:\Windows\SysWOW64>

- You can then register the file by typing regsvr32 richtx32.ocx and pressing enter - at which point there should be a confirmation box!
(full entry on that line would be C:\Windows\SysWOW64>regsvr32 richtx32.ocx). Note that there must be a space before richtx32.ocx.

- And then you can have a cup of tea.

Eric

I am thinking I would like to add your steps to the Knowledge Base article about this issue.

Would it be ok if I did that? I can credit you (or not) if you want me to.

And no worries, if you don't want me to add it to the KB article.

Thanks

Robin
