Hi,

I have downloaded THERM 7.8 from the official LBNL website and completed a clean installation on Windows 11 (24H2).

THERM installs successfully but immediately fails with:

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b).

I have already tried:

  • Fresh installation of THERM 7.8
  • Installing the required Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables
  • Installing the Intel Fortran Runtime recommended on the THERM website
  • Restarting Windows

I also carried out debugging using WinDbg.

The loader log shows THERM loading libifcoremd.dll before failing while loading libmmd.dll, resulting in error 0xc000007b.

The Intel runtime currently installed is:

  • libifcoremd.dll
  • File version: 2025.11.4.0
  • Product version: 2026.0.0

located in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Intel\Shared Libraries\bin

Has anyone experienced this with THERM 7.8 on recent versions of Windows 11, or is there a known compatible Intel Fortran runtime that should be used instead?

I can provide the WinDbg loader log (THERM-loader.txt) if required.

Thanks,

Darren O'Toole

Disclaimer: I had ChatGPT write this email as the install is gone over my head. Thanks in advance for any guidance. Please also note I have attached the THERM loader file on the advice of Chat GPT also.

This error is caused when the wrong version of the redistributables is installed, which is why we try to be clear about which of each to install.

For the Visual C++ Redistributable, you need to install the X86 version

And for the Fortran Redistributable, it seems that you may not have downloaded the exact file we specify on our web page
