I made up some tentative bylaws so we can become a non-profit organization.  Stuart Sinai was very helpful in helping me do this.  I am enclosing them for any comments from the group.

Also, I am concerned about liability if we start having group rides.  Since we have no liability insurance, people will have to sign wavers of liability to go on a group ride. Any ideas about this potential problem would be appreciated.

We have 37 members.  Have a Happy New Year.

I am including Pete Morris' email reply which came to me:

We'd need to put some thought into group rides.  Particularly in the urban areas where most of our riding takes place you need to be confident all in the group have good bike handling skills and understand biking protocol as well as rules of the road.  On LBK in particular riders need to be familiar and comfortable with riding paceline.  Also need to segregate into different speeds.

I ride with an experienced group and we still have incidents, to the point on LBK I now prefer to ride solo or with one or two others.

I fully concur with Peter Morris’ thoughts.

Me too, on the group rides; better a social gathering.
