When I first viewed the article, the future looked very bad for parts of the South Bay. Then I zoomed out a couple of clicks on the map and saw that the situation is even more dire.

Operative words:  a century.  I'm afraid developers haven't gone there since Notre Dame cathedral.

Certainly not in the world of sport stadium construction, where 25 and out is the general standard.

Sorry, Jack. Not even close to a century. The map certainly shows a hundred years hence, but many of the especially low-lying areas, such as around the delta, and the formerly intertidal areas along the bay's shore, will be inundated, at least occasionally, decades before that by storm surge. New York City is already suffering from climate change impacted storm surges and the Bay Area is not far behind.

My point, Brian, was not how long it might take to see symptoms.  It's who faces the critical risks.  Developers working on the Warrior stadium will have distributed their profits and moved on long before the new property gives its heirs headaches.  They have no reason to dig diligently into cautionary reports with time horizons beyond transfer of title.  Somebody does -- like agencies responsible for cleaning it up.  But they have scant power when confronting the political enthusiasm whipped up by "job creators."

This map reminds me of the bay model in Sausalito. Maybe they should update it to reflect current and future climate changes.
