I don't know what these patterns mean, but it's kind of interesting.

What does it mean that RyanSeacrest made the last graph?  Is this
also somehow significant!?

I have to imagine that the "spikes" at multiples of 100, assuming they
are real, relate to some dynamic in how Twitter deals with producing user
feeds, that then in some subtle way causes this.  At least that's my guess.
Is the other option some kind of psychological milestones in attaining
more followers?

My guess is that the spikes are bots. When I was actively using my twitter account, The majority of my followers were porn bots who showed up within a few days of activating my account. It would seem to be easy to program them to follow precise numbers of accounts for easy or response tracking etc.

No idea. I had to do a web search to even know who he is.

Vince’s idea on bots for the spikes makes some sense.

To a first approximation it seems to say that the more you play at Twitter (the more people you follow) the more followers you will have.  While the actual activities of tweeting and tweet reading are different, they roll up undeniably into time online...which appears to be the bottomline message -- that success in the social media sphere is primarily a function of time available.
