Hello everyone,

I have information on ordering new engine mounts for the Westerbeke 21hp and the 27 hp engines.

If you order the Westerbeke number which is #11687 ( the front one ) and # 32013 (2ea.) for the rear the price is out of sight. At Hanson Marine they were $153.70 for the front and $152.60 ea. for the rear.

The generic numbers are DF-100 for the front and DF-2205-2 for the rear.
Price though http://www.torresen.com/ for the DF-100 is $34.40 and for the DF-2205-2 is $48.28.  QUITE A DIFFERANCE.  If you put the  the Westerbeke number in the price jumps back to a little more than what Hanson wanted.

I found this out by ordering through Hanson which is close to where I live. He went to the bin to get the part and it was empty, so he went in the back and came back with the generic parts but was out of the DF-2205-2 so he gave me DF-2204-2. My suspicions told me to go back to the computer and check out the numbers.
The DF-2204-2 is for engines up to 150#. The DF-2205-2 is for engines up to 450#.
The -2 is the 5/8 stud, the -1 is 1/2 stud.

Now that I had the generic numbers Made by Bushings Inc. I ordered the parts from Torresen and returned the ones I had to Hanson explaining that he had given me the wrong ones, therefore no restocking fee.

Money saved- $342.67 all in all.

Hope this can help someone down the road.

Hi Again,

The web page to Torresen parts is easier if you go to www.toadmarinesupply.com

Just to add.......I purchased these mounts from Torresen last year.  We're very pleased as the replacements were identical, and our boat is happy again.  No more clattering cutlery, dishes, and panels.
I found out that we were on borrowed time as 1 rear mount stud was broken; the other rear mount stud was cracked; and the front stud was unadjustable as the threads were stripped/ missing from vibration wear.  Honestly, I was unable to see these problems until we removed them.

Went through this business a few years ago.  I have found nyloc nuts to be much better than the old fashion double nut arrangement. And yes some of those Westerbeke prices are impressive !

Andrea, this is a post I had back in 2013. I hope it helps.

Any one considering a change of engine mounts should look at the polyflex brand. They also make a great shaft coupler. As a local diesel expert said this is one case where you get more for less.

I needed these mounts for my N30U, W27A engine and found that Torresen no longer does internet business.  go2marine did have them for $52.22 each. I haven't looked yet but go2marine looks like it could be a good source for boat parts.

Hi -

Following up on this engine mount conversation, in addition to what Westerbeke refers to as the 'Isolator' part # 032013, I also need (more importantly) what Westerbeke actually calls the 'mount' which is their part # 041686... my starboard-side aft corner (under the raw water pump) mount (Westerbeke calls this the 'front' - I guess because the W27A engine is in backwards due to the V-Drive).  This is a newer number as the old number was discontinued in 2000...

Does anyone have a non-Westerbeke replacement part brand/name/# for this mount?  Westerbeke/Hansen/Toad all charge almost $300 for this one part!!!

Thank you,

Yes, I can’t look it up right now but I bought a pair for $108 including freight. I believe it was from go2marine. I will post information tomorrow afternoon.

I found my packing slip, the Go2marine part number is DF-2205-2. They obviously have raised the price but $70 is still a lot better than what Westerbeke charges. Some red paint and you can't tell the difference.

Thank you, Bill.
But that part # I have (that is actually what Westerbeke calls an "Isolator"... and the yard/service tech said no problem using that part.

I am looking for a less expensive version of what Westerbeke calls the "mount' - part# 041686 - an L shaped piece of metal that attaches the isolator to the engine block... seems this little piece of metal is almost $300US...

The yard/service tech said he may be able to reuse the one on my boat - he is going to see how extensive the rust issue is - if it is just surface he may be able to reuse it... if not I will need to spring for the $300 part.

Anybody know of a 'generic' replacement part for 041686?

Thanks!

I didn’t find that part number on my Westerbeke parts list but if it’s similar to 33890 you might try a local fabrication shop. Bring a dimensioned drawing or the piece and it should be a simple matter to duplicate. I would guess for 1/2 the price or less. Material costs are negligible and labor should be less than an hour.

I used Poly flex as well.

There is nothing special about Westerbeke mounts, plain Jane engine mounts worth $120.

Defender sells Ventus mounts as well
