Presenters: Claudia Fountain, Kara Dominguez, and Miriam Ramirez, all knowledgeable leaders and advocates for our immigrant community
Topic: Connecting needs with resources to empower immigrant and working-class communities in Conway and across Arkansas and how we can help
Here is additional information about our presenters and a shout out to Faye Shepherd for putting together an amazing lineup of knowledgeable speakers on this very important topic.
*Claudia Fountain, Director of City of Hope (CoHO) Academy Microschool, is known throughout much of the Hispanic community as "La Maestra." She is an educator, an interpreter, an advocate, and a community connector whose work has positioned her as a trusted bridge between cultures, languages, and vital community resources. She volunteers with Synergy Saturday at the LR River Market pop-up prevention clinic, serving as a medical interpreter and patient navigator. She is the author and co-author of two inspirational books: Girl Power, featuring women from diverse ethnic backgrounds, and her own empowering work, "She Se Puede!"
*Kara Dominguez is founder of La Voz del Pueblo, a grassroots organization dedicated to protecting, informing, and empowering immigrant and working-class communities across Arkansas, is a community organizer and an independent journalist. Her work includes organizing food and toiletry drives for families affected by deportation, coordinating community patrols and anonymous reporting systems, assisting families with immigration-related resources, and helping connect people to transportation, notary services, court accompaniment, and community support.
*Miriam Ramirez, a bilingual attorney who earned her JD from UALR Bowen School of Law, focuses on immigration and family law. She represents clients before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, immigration courts, and in a wide range of family law matters. The daughter of immigrant parents, Miriam understands the importance of family, stability, and belonging, the perspective that shapes her work as she helps individuals and families seek lawful status, stay together, and build a future in the United States. In her family law practice, Miriam guides clients through difficult situations such as divorce, child custody, child support, and adoption.
Please join us as we hear about the work of these outstanding community leaders and learn ways that we can support their efforts.
