Hi everyone, 

I am just wondering, for anyone who has extensively used BoneClones products (especially colored fossils like the La Brea casts): How durable is the paint? I am planning to purchase some for educational purposes, and deciding between a plainer, "white" finish vs. colored finish for some specimens. I like the colored one better, but I am considering the possible paint wear as well.

I've got some tar pit finish Bone Clones that have been in our education boxes (i.e. they make the rounds to a few thousand school kids per year) for 10+ years and the finish is just now starting to wear in some spots. The secret is to encourage gentle handling where possible and store them individually wrapped (we use bubble wrap). If anything, it's the whitish "antique" finish that discolors more due to skin oils and contrasting with anything they pick up. Feel free to message off-list if you'd like to see pics.
