Reminders: This coming Saturday, September 6th, starting at 9:00 AM, is our field cleanup Morning. During this time there will be NO FLYING ! We will be working on cleaning out the weeds on the Runway and pit  area and preparing for the resealing of the runway project. I hope a lot of you will participate . Bring weed whackers, shovels, brooms, scrapers, pump sprayers and wheelbarrows to clean up the weeds primarily on the Northern End of the field. The more help we have the faster it will get done! I hope to see you there! 

Next Wednesday, September 10th, starting at 6:00 PM, will be the next BBQ. Don't forget to bring those delicious side dishes. Please respond to this email so I can get a proper head and food count .Hope to see you all there.!

The runway resealing project is taking longer than the contractor expected so the FLYING FIELD WILL BE CLOSED UNTIL SATURDAY SEPTEMBER  20th ! Please be patient. I don't want them to rush. We want a good result for the money being spent ! I will send another Email by Friday to update progress . Thank you all for your cooperation ,

The flying field will be open on Saturday, September 27th and Sunday, September 28th, But will be closed on Monday, September the 29 th for at least 1/2 of the day for them to finish the little bit of striping that has to be done. Their vehicle broke down and they were not able to complete the job today.

          Well what a saga, the field will be open all day today. Because of the wet ground conditions, striping is out of the question sooooo we are shooting for Wednesday, October 1st to complete the striping. I will send a confirmation email as soon as I know more.

              Hello Everyone, The next month is going to be quite busy for DRCC and we are closing in on The Jets Over Deland Event which is November,6th, 7th and 8th. There are still many things to be done at the field, so please pay attention to the bullet points of this email :

1- The flying field is back open as normal. The resealing and striping job turned out nice. This is a great compliment to our facility.   

2- This coming  Monday October 6th, starting at 10:00 AM, I need people to help with construction of the ramps for the conex containers and we will be installing the new pilot stations that were constructed by MR. AL Shukle. These will be a  nice asset to our field further enhancing its functionality, looks and appeal. When you see Al, thank him for his hard work and efforts! GENTS PLEASE COME OUT AND HELP, WE NEED TO GET THESE ITEMS DONE BEFORE JETS OVER DELAND !

3-This coming Wednesday, October 8th, is our next BBQ. It Will Start at 5:30 this time because it is starting to get dark earlier.Please remember to bring all those delicious side dishes that everyone loves.Please respond to this email for proper food and headcount. After this BBQ, the final BBQ for the 2025 season will be held on October 22nd, stay tuned to your emails for updates

4- On Saturday, October 18th, Starting at 9:30 AM, There will be a memorial breakfast fun fly in memory of David Shorrock who recently passed away.I urge as many members as possible show up for this commemoration to honor the man and the contributions he made to this club during the many years he was a member. In attendance at this breakfast will be David's Wife and son.Please come out for a breakfast and some good flying in Honor of David ! 

5- There is going to be a club meeting on Saturday, October 25th, starting at 10:00 Am, at the Airport Administration building , at 1000 Flight Line Blvd, Deland, Fl 32724. The main focus of this meeting will be the Jets Over Deland Event. Mark your calendars to attend this meeting .

6- Jets Over Deland is November 6th, 7th and 8th and quickly approaching. Once again I am reaching out to the membership to get as many volunteers for this event to make it a total success ! Keep tuned in for updates via your emails.

7- Finally- On Sunday November 9th Starting at 12:00 Pm noon, there will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering for David Shorrock.    I would like to see if one person can come out and help screw down the ramp planks this morning ( Wednesday, October 29th ) starting at 11:00 AM.I know it is last minute, but one person had to cancel out. It should not take longer than 1 1/2 hrs. to do.

Notice :Tomorrow, Saturday morning ( November 1st) ,starting at 9:30 Am, we will have a cleanup and set up for the Jets Over Deland Event .It will take a couple of hours. Please come and help, the more people that help, the faster the job gets done !

I want to thank all the people who helped on Saturday to clean up and organize the field for the event. I would like to also give an extra thanks to Embry Riddle team members -Lilly Griffith, Spencer Lisak and Ethan Folkerts for their contribution of hard work for this team effort ! Thanks All ------

The time has come for all good volunteers to pitch in and help make our  Jets Over Deland  event the best event ever ! November 6th, 7th and 8th . Arrive at the field by no later than 8:00 AM and pitch in .You will receive A Jets over Deland T shirt and a great free lunch for your efforts !  I hope to see you there !
