Hi!

I'm a high school teacher and have been given the go-ahead to build a Crowbox as part of our year-end studies program.  We will have approximately 5 school days (so around 30 hours) to devote to Crowbox construction and related corvid study.  For planning purposes, I'm trying to get a rough estimate of how long it takes to build one of these things - keeping in mind that the builders will be a bunch of high school students :)

Thanks in advance!

I’d actually be really curious what people report as their total build time. If you look at the videos you can get a rough hour count, but there’s a lot of letting pieces dry, the inevitable fixes, etc. Anybody have feedback on their own estimate, relative skill level, etc.?

I would suggest that you should at least build it ones by yourself. Take yourself a day for it.

I think 30h are enough to build one. I just finished mine in round about 14h.
Maybe you can prebuild some parts. Or build workbench teams for parallel working.

But the acrylic cement is really toxic with its fumes. I would build it outside on fresh air.

Thanks, Marko!

Anybody else have a benchmark on their build time?

I wish I could say I had a good benchmark. I ordered all the parts and then got busy with life. And built it in stages over a period of a year. So not much help there. But when I sat down and watched the build videos. I would say it went together rather quickly. The longest delay in time was giving things the time to properly dry. I would do a few steps 1-2 videos and then let it dry for 24hrs.

So I would say within that window of 13 - 30hrs sounds reasonable. Compared to my experience of get started. Setup part of it. Life takes over. Come back a month or two later.
