Ten-Tec Omni V anyone?

Hi cluckers -

Pulled the Omni V off the shelf this afternoon to see if it changed its mind and decided to work after a problem came up many months ago. Looks like something to do with the CW offset on receive. S meter peaks on zero beat but if you move the VFO to the audio offset area, signal strength drops. Hope to figure it out. In the meantime, does anyone on the list have an Omni V they're ready to part with? Mine's getting old. Bought it at the local hamfest a couple years ago for $250 with matching supply, filters and remote VFO knobbie, and enjoyed it. I've spent way more on much lesser rigs. Would love to keep this rig going even if it means swapping parts from a donor rig.

I had a similar problem with my OMNI VI years ago, and I suspect the circuitry in the OMNI V is similar.  TT used separate BFOs for transmit and receive; switching between them rather than shifting one BFO.  My RX BFO had drifted so I was listening a good ways away from where I was transmitting.  I traced it to the trimmer cap on that BFO, a cheapo ten cent part had failed.  GL.
