I had a similar problem with my OMNI VI years ago, and I suspect the circuitry in the OMNI V is similar. TT used separate BFOs for transmit and receive; switching between them rather than shifting one BFO. My RX BFO had drifted so I was listening a good ways away from where I was transmitting. I traced it to the trimmer cap on that BFO, a cheapo ten cent part had failed. GL.
