Steve Rayner

I have read on twitter from more than one source that Steve Rayner has unfortunately passed away. I didn't know him very well myself, but I do know that he has been hugely influential in this community, and will be very much missed by many of us.

I have no details of the circumstances, or of the funeral/memorial at this time. 

With thoughts to all his friends, family and colleagues at this time.

Yes I received this message from Keble College on 17th January. 

I am sorry to have to report the very sad news that Professor Steve Rayner died peacefully at 2.00am this morning in hospital after a long battle with cancer. My understanding is that the funeral is likely to be restricted to members of his family. 

Steve was a great colleague and will be much missed.
