Updates & Opportunities
The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation (LDF) believes strongly in the power of collaboration.

We are experiencing what can only be called a planetary crisis: a convergence of accelerating climate change, unprecedented loss of biodiversity, and increasing human health issues caused by a toxic environment. To drive crucial results on an increasingly shorter timeline, we aim to support the best solutions, regardless of where they might be found. Our innovative Action Funds were born of this philosophy - providing highly targeted funding to projects from institutions big and small, harnessing the power of multiple organizations to save species and ecosystems. LDF is also proud to collaborate with corporations putting forth bold efforts to solve environmental challenges.

Read on for an exciting grant opportunity in collaboration with Microsoft's AI for Earth program and updates about our Action Funds.

The application period is now open and will close on July 31, 2019 at 11:59pm PST. Only applications received during this period will be accepted.

The Pangolin Crisis Fund: Hope for Pangolins

The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation (LDF) is proud to announce the launch of the Pangolin Crisis Fund in partnership with Wildlife Conservation Network (WCN) and Save Pangolins. The fund aims to raise awareness for the unique pangolin, native to Asia and Africa, and to eliminate the demand, trafficking, and poaching crisis that is putting them at risk of extinction. It is the third of WCN's Crisis and Recovery Funds offering specific, short-term funding to projects to save species at watershed moments.   Read More >

Protect the Pride: Disney Commits to Help Bring Back Lions

Next month, Disney is releasing a brand new The Lion King. Tragically, in the 25 years since the first film’s release, half of all wild lions in Africa have disappeared. In conjunction with the new movie, Disney has launched the "Protect the Pride" campaign, providing philanthropic support to the Lion Recovery Fund and promoting lion conservation to a global audience in celebration of one of their most successful franchises. In partnership with LDF, Wildlife Conservation Network launched the Lion Recovery Fund in 2017 to halt and reverse the decline of Africa's lion population.   Read More >
