"All together, these developments create enormous uncertainty for a growing sector that has been able not just to win bipartisan policy support over the past several years, but also secure billions in private capital. Below, we break down why this news is significant and what it signals for the future of the US’ carbon removal leadership."

GR - On the other hand, looks like a golden opportunity for other countries/investors to fill the void with a less therodynamically challenged and a less costly portfolio of CDR options and policies. Lead on.

Speaking of other countries picking up the slack, Phil DeLuna writes* about DAC in Canada:
Canada’s approach isn’t perfect, but it’s consistent. Carbon pricing remains intact. Federal and provincial governments are aligned on industrial decarbonization. There’s a growing recognition that if DAC is ever going to be a real industry — not just a research project — it needs to be treated like one: with infrastructure planning, permitting reform, and credit certainty.”

GR to which I would add “as justified by its ability to cost compete with other CDR methods.” How about creating a level playing field/free market and let’s see who the winners are?
