Hi folks, I don't know details but I have heard that our goon father was in the hospital after a car crash.

I know we are all sending him healing thoughts and goon power as he convalesces. GOON POWER!!

We will send more details once we know more. Hang in there Colin and I hope you feel better.

Hi Nicole and Goons,

I’ve spoken with Colin a few time since. He had operation on his L5 on Saturday and is now at home healing up. His last text to me an hour ago  was ‘I just sleep 11 hours and glad to be home’!

Hello my dear Goons,

Nicole/Phil - Thank you for sharing some of my deets with the Goontribe.

Yeah, I got messed up pretty good last week.  On Thursday I was driving north on HWY 6 towards Guelph when a Pick-up suddenly swerved from the oncoming lane right into the front of my CRV.  Full head-on collision.  I was doing 60-70, and I’m sure they were doing at least that as well.  Airbags deployed, in the ditch, I couldn’t breathe for almost a minute, and my right foot was no longer facing in the right direction.

The other driver (who is apparently fine) has been charged with reckless endangerment or something (the cop told me, but I was on morphine at the time).  Apparently they didn’t notice that traffic had slowed in their lane, so they decided the oncoming lane might have less resistance… I was conscious through the whole thing which was…interesting.  Man I’m grateful to be alive.

I’ve snapped my right Fib/Tib bones and did some ligament damage.  Broken sternum, and a minor fracture to L5.  I now have screws, plates and some kind of cord in my leg.  That I am in shape, that I’ve been working with Kettlebells since Christmas, that I do Yoga every day, has made a huge difference.  I’ve been strong enough to be able to move around with crutches (broken sternum makes all of that super hard).  Fitness is the new retirement savings plan.  Best to invest early!

I am safe now at home and recovering.  My body seems to have diverted maximum wattage resources towards healing…I’m profoundly exhausted and am sleeping a lot.  Emotionally, my empathic work and yogic explorations have made this process somewhat easier to “take it in stride.”  I feel so profoundly grateful to have a supportive and loving community.  That shit is rare and worth so much…I don’t take it for granted.

I hope all of you are doing well and keeping the rubber side down, or up in the air because you’re doing some sick jumps.

Sending love,

JC+

Jeez Colin, that's brutal. I'm so sorry. Good thing you are a superhero.

Tell us if we can do anything to help. Maybe a zoom chat when you are feeling up to it? We can make terrible jokes and talk about tire pressure and how much we hate SRAM shifting. (Or Jaguar can just make really dirty jokes sound classy in his French accent)

Once you are feeling better, we can come down for a little outdoor visit if you think that might cheer your spirits. I hear chocolate chip cookies are great for healing bones.

Be gentle on yourself, the emotional/ mental shock alone is pretty tough.

We are all thinking of you.

Nicole

SRAM shifting slags are such healing taunts to throw.  With cookies…that is fountain of youth stuff.

All sounds good…in time.

Colin, you are truly blessed. Daily gratitude is so important for all of us. Happy to hear both Mind & Body are solid- you will recover stronger, and better then ever from this experience. Would love to round up the goon tribe and venture west for a visit whenever you see fit. Love ya bro 👊
