WATCH OUT for your trees!!!

Hi neighbors,

Wanted to send out a message to watch out for the construction workers on Garfield and Polhemus right now! They for some unknown reason got their truck caught on the tree in front of our house and then subsequently sawed off a major branch of our tree. We are devastated! 

I was not there when it happened but my brother in law saw it unfolded. Please see attached pictures and let others know!

That is so awful. I've never heard of that happening and will be on the watch out. So sorry. Wish they'd leave our street alone.....lgr

WHAT A BUNCH OF CARELESS DUMB IDIOTS!!

I have video and photos of who the workers and their truck. Let me know if you need them. 

All of them need to be charged with crimes and need to pay damages!!

Chopping  off that that branch is terrible in itself. I’m also worried, though, that the workers  made a bad cut. The edges are ragged and splintered, and that could allow diseases to enter in and further damage the tree. I think the city should send an arborist out to make a clean, healthy cut ASAP. 

I’m going to the 4th on Forth Ave street tree care workshop tomorrow. I’ll ask one of the instructors there if they have any thoughts about what to do, and who might do it quickly.

Meanwhile, does anybody else have some thoughts on how to manage this?

Please ask the people how to get quick action on the tree. We have used Arborpolitan and were happy with them. I agree that the way the tree branch looks cant be right. I am sure the tree will rally and do well but the sooner it gets taken care of, the better. Best, lgr

Paul from the block took quick action and called the Parks Dept yesterday to make a complaint! When I came home today there was an “Inspected” tag on the tree so looks like the parks department has come by already and will be looking into remedial action. We’re aso filing a witness statement so the construction company can be fined. 

I’ll check with Paul to see if we can monitor the progress of the complaint and the Parks Department’s assessment of the damage. But Polly any info you get from the workshop would be greatly appreciated!
