I saw this one on FB for $2K, maybe it's still available (no association with the seller)

""Crust Lightning Bolt Single Speed With Ritchey Breakaway Tech, Custom. Crust’s size large to xl at 61cm. This bike is a bombproof build. It has Ritchey logic tubing with Ritchey breakaway lugs and tube clamps and can be broken down in a few minutes to be packed into a regular size travel bag (Also included). Thus, avoiding flight charges. It comes loaded with extras, like H SON Plus rims loaded on Phil Wood rear hub, and Chris King Headset, Salsa bars, brooks C17 saddle, etc,This build has over $3,500 retail into it, plus the $250 it cost to put together. That’s $3750 total. You save a bunch. Frame Bag not included. Going to be out of the US for work and need to sell in the next month. Make me an offer of you will miss your chance.""

Thanks Max! I'm hesitant to buy without meeting in person first (I'm in Phoenix) but good deal for anyone in the Reno area!

In other news, I just ordered a breakaway kit from Ritchey and am planning on building my own single speed breakaway bike. It will be a mashup of the Crust Lightning Bolt and Rivendell Quickbeam:

From the Quickbeam:
Cantilever brakes
lugged construction
Angled rear track ends
OS tubing
1" steerer
Double chainring setup with a Surly Dingle in the back.

From the LB:
lightweight tubing (maybe...)
threadless steerer
650b wheels (hoping for 55mm)

I'll end up adding integrated lighting and a rack and bag system that is designed for traveling and ease of breakdown. I'm leaning towards building a fork with lower offset to keep the handling more like the Quickbeam. We will see.

While on the phone with Ritchey, they mentioned that Crust did buy a bunch of breakaway kits recently. Sounds like they are gearing up for another run of some sort of travel bike but not sure without talking directly to them.

Interesting mash up! Wouldn’t heavier tubes be better for a breakaway bike, though? Then maybe use standard diameter to keep some flex. I think that’s basically what Crust did with the breakaway LB.

When I bought a bike (happened to be a Ritchey BreakAway) from far away seller I saw on Craigslist I was lucky that he mentioned it was also on eBay.  We settled on my paying Craigslist price plus eBay fees and buying it through the security of eBay transaction.

You could always suggest the seller list it there if they are willing to ship it.

Or, you can make your own frame(!?)

Hey Eric,

Heavier gauge tubing would probably be better for a travel bike buttttt, I currently have a 747 bike in standard diameter that is a little too flexy. I want to try going up to oversize to add a little bit of stiffness to the ride but not overly so. Not too concerned with dents in the frame.

The Breakaway bits from Ritchey only go down to 31.8 for the downtube portion. I believe the single speed LB has an OS downtube. The canti/disc multispeed LB is all standard diameter.

Probably would have reached out if it were on Craigslist, I don't currently have a Facebook/Meta account. Glad you were able to find a good travel bike. Hope you saved some money on the shipping in a smaller box too :)
