Have any of you converted a700c canti bike to 650b using the canti studs?

Ideas?

Do you own a 700c bike already that you are scoping for a 650b conversion?  Or are you shopping for a 700c bike that is not already in your possession?

It's hard to imagine a frame where this would be possible.  In the BMX world, you can get bolt on adapters that create new, lower studs.

canti studs placed for 700c wheels will not work for braking 650b wheels, they are too high. the only exception is a very few modern bikes have removable posts, and as Will B said, there are bmx accessories that will allow a lower stud placement. these adapters will absolutely not work with traditional brazed on posts. i know Thorn in the uk has some forks with thread in canti posts, though I'm not 100% that they are compatible with the mentioned adaptors.
the canti posts are useful for mounting a mini-rack; otherwise most people either ignore them or grind them off, and use either center pull or side pull brakes with long enough reach for 650b.
just a thought: if the bike has canti brakes it's likely that it has wider clearances than a "racing" bike, and you might be better off just putting on the widest 700c tyre that will fit the frame.

Get your calipers out.  Paul Moto Lite brakes have very wide adjustability.  They also require a very wide stack of bills for purchase.

We don't intuit physical forces. I have enough / plenty of Paul peak-CNC blink brake hardware.

And I doubt the physical forces IRL were included in the design and execution of the motolite. They'll fit and function in the same sense that these 99mm reach brakes do.

Dia Compe makes similar.

Of course we know to suspect both of these as too light, flexible , and sloppy for speeds much more than 10km/h.

For another purpose I was recently looking at Magura hydraulic rim brake. I could not intuit that the "booster plate" is required.

Paul Moto Lites should do the trick. They might require a brake lever with a little more cable pull.
I have a pair of Moto Lites and they are some of the nicest, most adjustable brakes I've ever used.

Yes- my mistake, Eric. While I've used the MotoLites to swap wheel sizes, I didn't go from 700c to 650b.

I don't see how Pauls will work here. The posts are too HIGH on a 700c fork. The pivot will be almost at the brake surface.

26" to 650B is relatively easily done on a canti post outfitted bike.  I recommend using Vbrakes and (BMX brand?) ProMax makes one with plenty of room for the conversion.

700C to 650B is more challenging if cantis are in place.  While desirable because the frame may accommodate bigger wheels  already (canti outfitted 700c tend to be tourers or CX bikes) the posts need to be moved by someone with frame building skills.  It's expensive but can be worth it if the frame is a good fit.  Still much more affordable than a custom bike and/or most off the shelf canti frames that will fit 650B.

I wouldn't trust any removable type canti posts that may be out there.  Too much pressure and too much to go wrong.

I would happily use those lowering doo-dads _if and only if_ my posts were removable. But only in the case where I was demo'ing out a conversion that i was going to accomplish via cutting and brazing or cutting and using RAIDs / Tektro R5x9 / Paul Racers later. I actually bought some to use with my SimpleOne before I realized that I couldn't use them on that frame because the posts weren't removable.

I have a surly cross check that had its posts chopped and rebrazed lower (I bought it after it was converted). The conversion worked great, but don't know how much effort the OP wants to put into such a project.
