Go to the SDYC, sit on a bar stool, and say "Dennis Conner ain't shit..."
Immediately, every boat owner in San Diego will start kickin yor ass. 😉

Hi Tim,
Great question! I have been trying for a long time to find all the owners! Yet I am still finding some that are pulled out of a shed!
My best advice is to talk with anyone who used to sail the boats! When you hear they sailed back in the early 90’s, Talk with them! Who did they sail with? Boats will slowly work there way to you. And even better, some of those folks may miss the 5O5 sailing so much, that they may want to come back out!

Keep working on it! The boats will surface!

Kind regards,

Paul

Thanks Paul! Great advice, we will do our best!

Anyone know if there is a list of current boat owners available?

I’ve been using this website as a resource to try to track down sailors/boats:
It has helped a ton, however finding that some of the information is outdated or missing.

Thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim,

I’d check results for local regattas, and make a list of sail numbers and sailors over time. Then reach out to them via SDYC / race office etc. You can also cross reference sailors and sail numbers with the 5o5 Results Archive <https://5o5.iworks.pl/>.

A good point of contact might be Channing Hamlet. You could also try Dan Merino, who I bought my boat from in San Diego.

Once you find someone, keep pulling the thread.

Good luck,

Nathan

Has anyone looked into race records yet? Would clubs still have the records from the 90’s or 2000’s?

The Mission Bay YC results online only go back to 2015 unfortunately.
I think it's been close to 20 years since we had a big regatta there.
Dan Merino and Channing Hamlet are probably the best people to contact.

Good luck,
Aaron
