What are people using for brand/model and sheave size for the shroud cascade.  Starting from scratch with a 2:1 system on the rail.

These two are what I use and I see a good number of these. One has a becket and the other doesn’t. Good luck.

Hi Thomas,
For just a 2:1 block on the rail, the Harken 1.5" wire block is a one-time purchase, they will last forever.
The 1" might be fine as well.

Hi Tom

I use 1/8 inch 7x19 SS wire rope on the first stage with an Allen A4196 wire rope block. I connect this to an aircraft fork end swaged to the shroud with a clevis pin, a short length of 8mm SS tube, and a 3/16 inch captive pin Wichard shackle. The tube goes in between the clevis pin and shackle. The point contact between the shackle and clevis pin is partially alleviated by the SS tube, presenting a greater radius and near line contact with the shackle. It deforms a bit and reduces the contact stress which, if one does the calculation, and I have, is astronomically high. The shackle stays with the shroud and makes it easy to connect to the Allen block as there are no clevis pins or ring dings to drop when rigging.

While the shackle pin is supposedly captive, I have seen some fall out - so screw it in while trailering.

Best regards to all,

Barney
