James:

Thanks for reaching out. Happy to provide some help. Would need to get more info- type/builder, year, condition (damage, dry?), parts (centerboard, rudder, mast, boom, poles), rigging condition or has it been upgraded, covers, road trailer, sail inventory. And of course pictures, pictures, pictures. Please feel free to reach out to me to further discuss tmurp...@gmail.com 650-393-3964

Hi James,

Another option, if you’re open to it, might be to come out and sail with us! We have a small but growing fleet in the San Diego area and are always happy to help get boats out on the water.

If you’re in the San Diego area feel free to give me a call and let’s connect. It would be great to get you out on the water with the group!

Thanks,
Tim Steele

Beautiful boat! But it is not a good idea to sell a 5o5 before you have secured your next 5o5.

I am in the SF Bay Area. Looking to team up with a serious helmsman. I will show up for practice, can do ALL the road trips, have lots experience, I have equipment, or we can use yours, or both...  Maggiore? Sure :)

Yes, it's a super pretty boat.  Somebody has really kept up with the clearcoat.

It looks like a Lindsay (or a Parker-hulled Lindsay?), previously quite active on the East Coast:

Single spin pole boat with twings, and maybe an off-set launcher behind that jib?  No bag holes in the usual foredeck position where they live.

Good luck with it James, whatever you choose to do.

Thank you all. She is a Lindsay and in solid shape and as had a new foredeck and bow launcher installed. A Larry Tuttle had it for a number of years for me while I was stationed overseas in the Navy and did some work on the hull and transom to make sure she is solid.  I got her down to San Diego from year about 2 years ago, but finding the time has been hard and finding a place to keep her hard as well.

James,

I think potential buyers will want to know what mast section is in the boat, and if the centreboard and rudder are current design high aspect, as in the Waterat HA480 (I doubt it has an HA490 unless you bought the centreboard in the last three years or so). How many suits of sails in good condition, what sort of trailer and trolley... Great that Larry/Waterat did some work on it!

I own four 505s (including 7200 a Lindsay hull finished by Waterat) and have no plans to buy another, so not me ...

I remember 7092 from when it was raced on the East Coast, by several different owners over the years ...

There is a poster on my wall of 505s racing in the pre-worlds in 1981, and the 4th placed boat in the image is Macy Nelson driving with Duncan Skinner on the wire in 7092. I don't know if the boat was then owned by John Pulverman, or Duncan Skinner.  The boat was later owned by Mark Wheeler, then Kenny Elliot/Allan Kilgore, then Dustin Romey who raced it with Jahn Tihansky.

Lots of info about the boat is available on the 505, 505 results, 505 sailors database.  The 7092 page is: https://5o5.iworks.pl/fleet-boat/7092/

I would encourage you to keep the boat and race it if you can.  Those of us who have been racing 505s for years love the boat, the people, and the racing so much, we want to keep doing it until we're dead, and we organize our lives around being able to do that ...

Cheers,

Alexander "Ali" Meller
