I hope this finds you well. My name is Diarmaid, I'm the Regatta Coordinator at Sail Newport, and I'm reaching out personally to invite the 505 class back to the 2026 Newport Regatta.
It was great to have such a strong fleet of 505s join us last year. We'd love to have you back in 2026 to continue that momentum.
Event Details:
Dates: July 11-12, 2026 (with optional Friday, July 10 racing for interested classes)
Check-in: Friday July 10
Racing: Saturday & Sunday on Narragansett Bay (Friday racing available if your class is interested)
Saturday Night Social: food, live music, and the sailing community coming together
Sunday Awards with bar service
What You Can Expect:
Outstanding race management
Multiple races each day
Three or four racing areas across the bay to accommodate all classes
Cold beer ashore
What We Need From You: To confirm 505 as a participating class, we need a commitment of at least 12 boats by May 29th, 2026. This gives us time to finalize race circles, staffing, and logistics.
The Notice of Race and Yacht Scoring registration will be available very soon, I'll send those your way as soon as they're live.
The Newport Regatta has always been about bringing the sailing community together for great racing and even better camaraderie. It was great having you last year, and we'd love to do it again in 2026.

I don’t known where the magic number of 12 comes from, but if we get close, they appear to accommodate us. If we are 10, you would think this helps the regatta cost math work better than not having is us at all. Maybe try to get 505 folks to commit in May? Will the Canadians come is an open question. Closing bridges doesn’t help.
