Someone else recently mentioned this machine in a post somewhat recently (~last month). I don't remember the topic or poster but I chose to hold my breath because I actually built one.
A Candy Claw Machine designed by Chris Riley -
https://www.printables.com/model/317920-candy-claw-machine-chriss-basementWe wanted a claw machine as a reward method for our kids. The cheap toy ones on amazon are junk. A real machine requires space, time to restore, and a hunt for limited info and parts to fix. So I thought that one could be printable. Then I found Chris' machine. Â
Then I realized some of his parts require a 300x300 print bed. I have 300 mm round. I couldn't print those square pegs on my round printer. You know, that age old challenge. That got the gears turning about how to do this.Â
I am working on a more detailed writeup for printables and makerworld, but for now, here is the summary:
- Custom victorian-esque, vintage look
- use the hologram textured beds as much as possible
- make everything printable on a 180 mm x 180 mm x 180 mm build volume printer
- do it as cheap as possible (FAILED; oh well).
So this is how it turned out! It runs full Marlin 2.1 firmware on a Mega2560 and Ramps 1.4 clone boards.

More pictures to come. Can I seriously only post a single picture at a time?
