Hi there, For 3 weeks I've been trying to submit a suggestion for a thing of the week  to in...@threedprintingtoday.com

It keeps bouncing back with the following error:

LMTP error after RCPT TO:<in...@threedprintingtoday.com>:

452 4.2.2 <in...@threedprintingtoday.com> Mailbox is full / Blocks limit exceeded / Inode limit exceeded:   retry timeout exceeded

Am I using the correct address?

Here's the item if anyone's interested.

Hello Sir,

A couple things...

It's been years since I tried once to email the podcast email address. Will also say - Andy is a lot more active on here.

Not exactly sure why you're getting the problem, but, does seem thier Inbox is full. Will admit - that seems a bit Illogical.

I believe at one point they changed the email address. Did you get the email from the Most Recent episode of the podcast?

I can also pass this along directly to Andy for you.

All this being said. FYI - those clear bags the filament comes in - or NOT very helpful. They really will NOT Keep filament that dry!!! It's the truth. If you want a bag that DOES keep it dry - it should be a Silver ziploc Mylar baggie. Those truly are essentially impenetrable by moisture - unlike the clear plastic bags.

Also, if it's for PLA spools - they are more affected by UV Light - -and NOT as much by moisture.

Not sure why it did not work. I'll try a test.

In the meantime... I'm not sure I get what this proposed TOTW actually can do beyond keeping the filament from rolling off the spool. Which is easily solved by simply threading the end through the holes in the spool that are there for that purpose. It won't protect the material from moisture or UV. What does it do when more than half of the spool is used and the inner diameter is much smaller? Is it just to minimize the bag corners?

Yes - I agree - it does NOT actually seem like a very viable thing to print...

It appears you put the filament spool in a bag (with dessicant?) and then wrap this around the outside of the bag to hide all the corners of the plastic that would otherwise stick out all over the place. It would also serve as a filament swatch because you print the band in the same color as what's in the bag. Since the band goes around the bag even a half-full spool would probably still work. Everything looks neat and tidy and I think that's the point.

Of course you can't see how full a roll is ...

Scott Bussinger has the correct understanding. In my experience, vacuum bags usually leak after they've been used a couple of times. My filament rack looked a complete mess with all the leaky bags sticking out. So now when I put a roll of filament away, I suck the air out of the bag and before it leaks and expands, I put a band around the outside to keep it all tidy. Because the bag can't expand very much, there's only a tiny bit of air gets sucked back in.

As Scott points out, the only downside is that you can't easily see how much filament is left on the roll. For me, this is a small price to pay for having a tidy filament rack.
