So I used Bambu's studio to take some pictures of my nieces and nephews and make little figurines in 4 colors, exported as a 3mf for an x1c.

I tried importing into Anycubic Slicer Next(Orcaslicer) but the printer crashes every time, though sometimes I can get halfway through...

So I play with AI and it tells me it's definitely not going to work and I need to get 4 separate stl files(1 for each color) to make it work with my S1.

Trouble is, Bambu doesn't offer anything else other than a glb and nothing I've imported either further into recognizes any separation.

Copilot was trying to lead me down a path of importing the glb into blender and running a script to detect the colors to separate them into materials but nothing ever gets detected.

Anyone know of a way of getting this to convert?  Or is the only way really to drop it to single color and hand paint?

Thanks!
Levi

I'm curious about this. I thought Bambu Studio was a Desktop App. But, I suspect there is a Phone App version - and that's what you used to take the pics. If So - I am Shocked AND Amazed! Shocked to hear they have an integrated phone camera capability (maybe Shocked is TOO Strong of a word usage) - but, Amazed that it can easily turn a photo into a 3D Model!!!

By the way - you REALLY Should posted one of the 3MF files here - so at least folks can take a good look at the file.

That sucks. But, Why not STAY with Bambu Studio - and use it to slice for your printer? Is that truly NOT an option??

Since you're already playing with AI - maybe you can dig a tad deeper into AI. How big is the STL file generated by AnyCubic Slicer? I'm just curious. Since an STL is purely Text - maybe an AI app can look at that STL - figure out WHY it is failing to print - then simply Tweak the STL file to allow it to print. Like, for instance - WHY does your printer crash when printing the file. FYI - I have a TON of Experience using Claude AI - and specifically for computer Coding - and since an STL file is simply another type of computer control code - maybe AI CAN fix the problem!

I was recently trying an online AI app - that can generate 3D files. Oddly - the level at which I had the trial tokens ONLY let me export as a GLB file - which I had NEVER heard of before. So was rather surprised to see your reference to it!

Yeah - maybe an AI program, instead of Blender - may have a better way of detecting the colors.

I know the Hand painting option sounds Painful - but, it may NOT be Quite as difficult as you think. Have you at least Tried that route? I'm curious...

Hey Kurt,
Yeah, was thinking I should have added a bit more.

It's actually a Web app to generate from Bambu.  You want the makerworld, makerlab, PrintU:
I just used pictures I downloaded from Facebook.

I'll attach one of the 7mb 3mf files.

Bambu studio doesn't have a printer profile for my S1 so I don't see how that would work better if Copilot is correct and the Bambu uses different gcode for it's multicolor(and that's a big if)

I wasn't familiar with glb files either.

I haven't played with hand painting for maybe a year or 2 in Prusaslicer.  Haven't played enough with Orcaslicer to know if it supports it I guess or not...

Hey Levi,

The differences that Bambu does for multi-color may be Minimal - and it may simply be a tool changing/filament swapping script. A Smart AI could potentially come up with a way to Swap the Bambu Filament Swap script segment - with a Segment that more fit for your own printer.

AI can be DAMN Powerful. A little digging may find that you CAN Fix the problem - by having AI tweak the filament swapping!

Of course, this is purely THEORY! But, ALL Really Great Ideas start with a Theory - to prove a concept!

GLB Is a model file format that is used in things like augmented reality. It’s just a textured polygon mesh.

The easiest thing to do will be just open it in MeshLab And then save it as an STL. You’ll have to repaint it in Orca.
