So no way to automatically transfer custom profiles nor export/import custom profiles. My bet is their change to the file format pulldown from the FW type broke any backwards compatibility and the only profiles it can transfer over are those it already recognizes from it's served dB. As such all custom printer profiles have to be manually set.

I tried to see if the dB of profiles had my Tenlog IDEX and it did. So I switched over and figured I'd give the PETG as object with PLA as dense support a try. Whoops! It seems they have hard wired the material settings to the pull down and ignored the extruder. So Both extruders are set to the material settings. I.e., no MM direct support through their internal connections. (hmmm... PS can do that). But I can manually change the temp on the other extruder although any other setting will remain the same as the pulldown. Again... proof of inadequate user testing.
Extruder Settings are the same.
In "Layer" they added a checkbox to turn on Variable... I mean "Adaptive"  layer height
Variable layer heights seem to work ok although their placement is automatic only while PS lets you change that interactively. However, they did include a bit more detail such as the max and min heights and there is an adaptive smoothing level which I have yet to monkey with.
XY Compensation is moved to there and they've split it into Inner and Outer (need to try that!)
I see nothing related to their zipper hiding feature at all.

Ooo... this looks useful...
They made a Printing order area which has the Outline print order and a new "Island"print Order" not sure what that is... but under that there's a new "Print infill before perimeters." Now that can come in real handy for overcoming priming issues as I've written about lately on other posts.
In Additions...
Prime pillars still only make one pillar. But they've added a bunch of details like widen location, speed and infill percentage. As well as an auto stop after a set number of layers. They also added a bunch of ooze shield features. obviously they've also assumed ooze shields and prime pillars are THE solution as way too many others have.
In Infill...
Some new patterns, but none of the really innovative patterns that have come out in recent years which Cura and PS both have. They added a "Dense Internal infill" that has layers and percentage settings.
They added "Solid Diaphrams" with layers and spacing settings.
In Support...
They added an Aligned pattern (no idea) and a bunch of Dense support settings none of which makes the top surface clean. NONE. I'm a bit miffed about that. Again, proof of zero real user testing or input.
They added lower separation layers. Not sure why. There's this thing called gravity which will make that a bit problematic.
Temperature...
They added a "Cooldown Extruder While Idle: with Temp, idle time and reheat time settings... all of which I see issue with.
Cooling...
They added a checkbox to turn on "Increase fan speed for excessively quick layers" with a time for layer setting as max speed... this could come in handy for those very small tool paths allowing you to have a lower speed everywhere else rather then fully blast for the whole print.
Speeds...
They added this area called time estimation which includes all aspects of how you've setup for FW with acceleration, jerk etc... Its only their for estimating how long it will take to print. Yipee. I wonder who fought for that?
They added two speed overrides with layer time and speed percentage change for both layers  and perimeters... could be handy.
Also added "Reduce print speed for excessively high flow rates" per extruder and a max flow rate setting. I wonder who fought for that?
Output...
has the file type pulldown and the gcode checkboxes for weird or bug related issues in Marlin.
There's now a "Global Offset" for each axis. hmmm I wonder if thats because of raise3D?
Scripts...
No changes
Other...
They added an override fan speed while bridging.
and 2 things to Tool change retractions; "Perform tool change prime on first use" and "Perform tool change retract at end" which could be quite useful.
Advanced...
The layer mod settings which were understated before are now in their own dialog accessible from anywhere within the Process settings.
They changed what used to be checkboxes to a pulldown for wiping (this is a different wipe then a prime or purge wipe)
They added a Slicing behavior area with a pull down to select some auto fixing features such as close and heal segments, thicken invalid and discard invalid segments.

Not sure why you are having profile import/export/migration problems.  I was able to do that with 0 issues.  All of the 3 dozen profiles I tried was converted successfully.

I did have about 80% of the profiles transfer. It’s just that the 20% were the profiles I actually used and developed myself from scratch. How many of those… 3 dozen… really you have 3 dozen different machines…? We’re developed from scratch?

Ok, now we are getting somewhere.  80% was good for you.

Try to look beyond the OMG; you have all these printers, or are these profiles developed from scratch; instead, let's approach this by finding out what is in that 20% that is NOT in the 80%, and therein should be the problem.  Perhaps it's a typo/misspelling/etc., or perhaps it's a lint bug in the conversion.   For any bug to exist, there are limits imposed.  In these limits, the bug exists; outside, it is reduced/eliminated.  What are those limits? These are the questions that should be asked.  In what scope or context does this happen?  Perhaps you could share one of the profiles that failed, and seeing as how many here have been vocal about S3D, I am assuming (perhaps incorrectly) they have v5, and we could look it over and see if someone here can find the issue with the text file :)

There is a concept called Kloc; for every KLOC (thousand lines of code), there will be an estimated number of bugs, many critical, many minor, and the like.  Code density, code quality, defect density, and the like could also be looked at.

Here's a real problem...
It does not do a lift on retraction at a tool change. I kept seeing first layer parts getting bumped off the bed so I watched carefully. It Z hops on retractions except on a tool change which is the moment you need it the most.

Whoops!
There's a nice new change to the Toolchange script!
Now you can do a Pre Toolchange script and a Post Toolchange script and a Z hop can easily go in the Pre. Cool.

They've changed how to setup for more then one extruder. Now you add an extruder from the "..." button on the right side of the "Auto-Configure Extruder Pull Down on the upper right side of the process dialog. The button opens a menu with a bunch of things in there which effect the Extruder list on the left side. They also added a Duplication/Mirro mode for the extruder pulldown. I guess you can use that in lieu of the FW setting your IDEX may have (The Tenlog has it, but its real flaky).

There ya go. Dense support with pla on PETG. Not perfect,  but not bad at all!
The lines are the impression made on to the pla top.

Here's the same print but this time sliced using PrusaSlicer. A bit better than S3DV5...

With the setting now there to start the tool path with infill along with doing outline/perimeters from inside to outside... the issue of tiny gaps at the start of each tool path is now hidden. As such, no need to prime any more!!

Andy,

Just to be clear, are these PTEG with PLA support prints with the Tenlog or the Tool changer?

Whoops sorry…
These are both from the Tenlog. I got the second extruder height dialed in so it’s good. Already printed a bunch of stuff that did not have a flat surface using this technique but the objects were pla and the dense supports were PETG. Once you get it working it’s the only way to 3d print!
Using the settings to do infill first and perimeters inside to out and printing without priming, all the tiny defects to the start of the toolpath are hidden.
The Tenlog is working great.

I'm Glad that the TenLog is working Great!

I've started having Mixed results with PCTG w/PLA supports - but, alas - its not a S3D V5 discussion...

Andy,

It sounds like the Tenlog is working great! Maybe you could do a quick rundown of your current state of setup with the machine? Are you still using the "Tenlog Nozzle Blocker" that you published on Thingiverse, in conjunction with infill first and inside to out perimeters?

Mine is up and functioning, but I have not yet actually had a chance to try it because of a warranty issue (I'll do another post) and travel.

Yes, I still have the nozzle blockers on the TL-D3. But I see that with a slow retraction on a tool change there is nothing on the pads at all after more than a dozen prints. Which tells me there is no drool at all and the material is completely down up and out of the melt zone and not breaking off at the tip.

I'm having a problem programming the "Tool Change" S3D V5.x.  The environment is a direct drive extruder with a custom designed filament switcher.  For example, there are two processes, T0 and T1, corresponding to switchable filament inputs – single extruder/heater.  The system works well when I step through the sequence but I’m having trouble programming it on to my custom Delta. I’ve written a script (S3D V5) as below to try to get something (anything?) in the gcode at the line where the filament switcher macros are invoked.  Can anyone suggest a solution?

Take a look at how SeeMeCnC does it with their Boss. IIRC they do have an S3D profile for it. Not sure if you can download though.

No luck with  SeeMeCnC.  However, MakerGear got me up and running.  They offer S3D printer profile downloads and excellent descriptiver instructions.  Kudos to them and thanks to you for suggesting that approach.
