I'm sold; I've heard you guys rave about IDEX machines on every episode, and I've saved up enough money to buy one to replace my damaged CR10s. This is largely a pastime for me, and I'd prefer to keep it around $500. I want to use it to print at least 2 color models, experiment with multilaterals, etc.
Which one do you think I should get from Amazon? Most of these, with the exception of Tenlog and flashforge, I'd never heard of.
or should I go for the "non-IDEX" Bambu Lab A1 Combo 3D Printer?

If you have any other to add to the list let me know. I really value your opinion.
Thanks and Happy Holidays

First off remove the Flashforge from your list. POS
The Sovol is a Bowden… nix that
Looking at the Entine… never seen one. I see in the pic  the brass brushes they have that the nozzles pass thru. That will damage the brass nozzles. So those would have to be removed. The pic does not show the cabling… gee I wonder why? And it looks like it’s also a Bowden… nah…
The JGMaker looks ok. Nice cable mgmt. oops it’s also a Bowden.
The Tenlog is kinda expensive given that ours cost $275. You may want to look a bit. We found ours on 3dprintingdeals.com. I just looked… there’s no idexs there right now.

The Bambu machines look awesome as they are designed from scratch by some real talent, but they are all single extruder and smaller build areas.
Sorry. I think you need to keep looking.

I would go with one of the two new mini bambus with 4 color feeders.

This helps a lot! thanks. I like the Tenlog, but I doubt it will be available at that low starting price anymore. I believe your comments may have influenced the price hike. :) I should absolutely acquire it now before the price goes up any further.

I scored the Tenlog recently on a Black Friday deal for under $400. If your'e willing to wait you might find a deal.

There also seems to be a number of them available on the Tenlog facebook group (used) although I'm not sure that counts as a selling point.

The bambu all have an excellent integrated nozzle system. Hardened steel or stainless, replacements inexpensive and in stock, excellent service.
If you are doing any glass or cf filled, hardened essential.
Forget brass, forget screw in. A year with the big bambu- petg, petg glass, nylon w glass or cf, not a single clogged nozzle or leak.

The Sovol SV04 IDEX is direct drive.
Any of the IDEX options are going to be slower printers.  With multi-material, and even just multi-color thats not a bad thing.

I have the Bambu Lab A1 Mini with AMS and love it.  It does multi-color wonderfully and simply at the cost of a lot of wasted purge material.  I doubt it can do multi-material without a lot of cleverness on the part of the user.
They just released the A1.  Its the same hotend and AMS system as the mini but it uses the other Bambu Lab printer beds (from the X1, P1 series).  That build volume is 256 mm^3.

Another tip about the Bambu A1 series... you aren't limited to the 4 colors in the AMS either.  Yes the system can only hold 4 at a time but you can insert print pauses and change out colors.  I did a 6 color print with my A1 Mini and have a 5 color print ready to hit the printer soon.

I choose the TL TENLOG TL-D3 V2. Today, Amazon gave a $150 discount code. The final cost is $280! The wait was really worth it.

Thanks all for the recommendations and comments again. Today, I unboxed the Tenlog and took me about 1 hour to assemble. Index calibration is new thing for me. Leveling the bed was really easy. However, setting the nozzle offset was not. After running several test I was able to align the nozzles and run my first calibration print cube. I used the Cura profile provided by Tenlog. I see many defects and will appreciate yours comments on how to improve this. Thanks.

You might be over extruding a bit. Possibly need to increase retraction. Also cut back on your speed. I also recommend you switch to PrusaSlicer and use the PrusaSlicer preset for this machine.

Also… in Prusaslicer. Set “Retraction on tool disable” for each extruder to something like 10 mm or more… enough to pull the material just out of the melt zone.

There is no present for Tenlog on prusaslicer. I did find a cura profile in the official Tenlog site and I made the modifications you suggested. Will run some more tests this weekend. Thanks

That is what I did. May be Tenlog is not in the Mac version?

Can you link to the source for this multicolor calibration cube? I recently bought the tenlog and would like to print and compare.

What speed were u printing at?

I’d love to see your tuning progress and hints as I set mine up too. If your worried about spamming the board DM me.

Is on “parts for calibration” under the extension menu in cura. At the bottom of the menu find “add a bicolor calibration cube”. Printed draft quality at 60mm/s.
